Yes! The medical model can be highly pathologizing. I understand we're trained to find the problem and help the individual "solve" it, which may be helpful in some situations.

What we need alongside that is skills & strategies for helping people accept & embrace themselves; to help them tease apart the struggles that cause them distress, and the parts they have been taught are problematic simply because general society tells us so.

Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference, mostly because of how we're socialized.
