There is no “tail end” of the spectrum. The spectrum is a circle. Or sometimes a curvy line. It is not linear. People’s functioning levels change on a regular basis, depending on the environment and a myriad other factors. My point is the DSM-V criteria perpetuate stereotypes and a “tragedy” narrative around autism rather than helping people receive the supports they need.
