Thank you for sharing your perspective. I acknowledge that some of my positive experiences come from "passing" privilege, meaning I can read lips and speak, and "pass" for hearing. It is different for Deaf people who do not speak or read lips.
That said, I do identify as Deaf (culturally, linguistically, and socially), just as I identify as Autistic. They are part of who I am, yes, but integral to my identity. I wouldn't be me if I weren't Autistic and Deaf. Now that I have learned to embrace my differences, I no longer wish to be "normal" (being normal sounds kinda lame now lol).
Deaf Gain has brought me Deaf culture, sign language, and new friends. I am grateful for that.
