On NYE I was chatting with a male friend. He's generally a kind, friendly, caring man and I enjoy chatting with him. However, he does have some misogynistic views of which he isn't even aware. Anyway, he was trying to explain the differences in taxation of employed persons versus self-employed business owners. I tried to explain that I had run my own business for 12 years, but he continued explaining. I finally said more firmly, "yes, I know. I've done this for 12 years, so I've learned a thing or two" and he finally realized and backed off. Like, buddy, stop assuming because I'm a woman I won't know about "man's" work like running a business and managing finances.
