I'm also from Canada, so I'm not sure how this works in the U.S., but these meetings and paperwork can be integral to a student's success. If the classroom teacher is not involved in planning for students needing supports, what do you suggest? Genuine question because I 100% agree with everything you wrote, including the fact that you shouldn't have to give up your planning period to attend meetings. We definitely under-appreciate, under-pay, and under-resource our schools and staff here as well.
