For young children, their parents (or primary caregivers) have the most significant impact on *everything* about their lives. As children get older and develop different relationships and connections, they are able to become more resilient, but our early years impact us for the rest of our lives. Sure, we "survive" our parents--I want to set the bar a bit higher than that....
